HINDUSTAN COPPER LIMITED - DROP RAISING IN MINING.

GROUP OF OFFICERS AND WORKERS OF KHETRI COPPER MINES, KHETRI COPPER COMPLEX WHO ACHIEVED LONGEST RAISE IN RECORD TIME.

Khetri Copper Complex (KCC) at Khetrinagar,
Rajastan

This complex was initially established by the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) as a copper mine which was transferred to HCL in 1967. subsequently, smelting and refining facilities were added.

Presently, KCC comprises two underground mines (capacity 1 million tones of ore per annum) viz Khetri and Kolihan. Together with a concentrator plant, a metallurgical complex and a refinery, the company has in this sector a capacity to produce 31,000 TPA of refined copper in the form of cathodes
Technological Innovation

Hindustan copper limited has track record of technology refinement and ingenuity ranging across mining, beneficiation, smelting hydrometallurgy and by-product recovery.

MINING

Trackless mining has helped in rapid development of mines enabling higher levels of production and productivity comparable to international standards.

Drop Raisting.

HCL has addressed the complex ‘raising’ operation in mining and developed and implemented Drop Raising techniques at 80 meters intervals which improved safety and led to faster and higher productivity. A pattern of five (165mm) blast holes have been standardized for blasting the raises sequentially by the carater method.

Large diameter blast hole stoping

HCL has developed single sub-level method of stoping using large diameter (165mm) blast holes over level intervals of 50 to 60 meters. Excellent fragmentation has been achieved. Benefits of new stoping method has been in reduction of drilling cost and explosive cost, reduction of manpower and reduction in stopes preparation time.
